Michael J. Rogers retired from the West Orange Police Department as a captain in November 2005 after 27½ years of service. At the time of his retirement, he commanded the patrol division, leading 88 talented and motivated men and women. He successfully led his agency through the difficult process of achieving international accreditation through the Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. He had also been the administrative commander seeing to the human resource needs of the entire department.
From November 2005 to July 2010, he was the assistant business administrator for the Township of West Orange serving as the inspector general for personnel matters. He has been an adjunct instructor for the State of New Jersey Human Resource Development Institute developing and delivering training courses in law enforcement leadership and management, Department of Banking and Insurance leadership and management, and fire service promotions.
He holds a Masters of Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has been a recipient of the Harry Wilde Award for academic excellence from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police West Point Command and Leadership program.
